Green Solutions is a programme that offers support to businesses in South Staffordshire to enable you to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Green Solutions is funded by the council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation and Staffordshire County Council.
You can access support for any of the following:
- Carbon Literacy Training. This FREE 8-hour training course will provide you the knowledge and skills to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. You can choose whether to attend an in-person or online course, and the training is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, you can book a place on the course on their website.
- Energy Efficiency Review. This FREE review will look at your energy consumption and provide you with recommendations to save money and reduce your carbon emissions.
- Low Carbon Grant. A grant of between £1,000 and £20,000 (cover up to 50% of eligible costs) is available per business to implement any of the recommendations from the Energy Efficiency Review.

- Ventilation (fans, distribution, destratification fans)
- Heating (replacement boilers, burners, heat pumps)
- Renewable technologies and battery storage*
- Lighting (LED, controls, sensors)
- Refrigeration
- Compressors
- Insulation
- Recycling & Waste (compactors, balers & crushers)
- Water management
- Other buildings measures e.g. glazing
- Cooling Controls
- Equipment upgrades Hot water efficiency measures
- Humidification
- Small appliances
- Submetering where monitoring of an energy consuming process could drive reductions in consumption.

The following dates for carbon literacy training are now available:
Tuesday 11th March, 2025 - in person at 9.30am to 5.00pm - in person.
Wednesday 26th March, 2025 - E-learning Carbon Literacy Training Course - 9.30am - 12.30pm - online*
Please note: our online CLT courses are for two four-hour morning sessions on consecutive days.
*Online course starts with an IT check at 9.15am.
