Update from 19/9/2024
Work to replace the Boardwalk at Perton's Upper Lake is underway and is expected to be completed by Friday, 27th September following some delays outside of our control.
We are pleased to announce that funding has been agreed to upgrade the boardwalk around Perton’s Upper Lake. Please share this message with residents and local groups.
Part of South Staffordshire Council’s responsibility is the maintenance of the wooden boardwalk adjacent to the Upper Lake in Perton. Over the years, the boardwalk has required more and more maintenance to ensure it is safe to be used. We are happy to announce that funding has now become available, through the UKSPF, for the boards to be replaced along with any structural work beneath the boards as needed.
An external contractor has been appointed to undertake the required work to include the removal and disposal of all the old boards and the installation of the new boards.
The new boards are manufactured from sustainable premium grade European Redwood. The boards have a smooth profile with each board having two non-slip inserts. The smooth profile is easier to keep clean as there is no accumulation and build up of dirt and debris as in the castellated boards currently in place.
The work is scheduled to take place week commencing Monday 9th September and it is anticipated it will take seven days to complete. As such the associated pathway and sitting area will be cordoned off to allow the contractor adequate space to work whilst ensuring the public are kept at a safe distance.
