Animal Licensing

Please carefully read the guidance for the activity you are applying for:

Complete and return the relevant application form: 

• Animal Boarding - For catteries, boarding kennels, dog day care and home boarding
• Breeding of Dogs
• Hiring Out Horses
• Keeping of Training Animals
• Selling Animals as Pets Licence

The total cost for each activity should be submitted with the application.

How to pay online

1. Online at: www.sstaffs.gov.uk
2. Click "Pay"
3. "Pay for it" - Click 'Licensing and Environmental Health Payments'
4. Select Service "Animal Welfare" 
5. Select - What is this payment for
6. Enter exact payment amount
7. Click Continue
8. Follow the remaining instructions for payment 

• You can ask for a re-rating if you are unhappy with the star rating issued  
  
   
• You should outline why you think you have a case for a re-inspection and inform us of the actions you have taken to improve the level of compliance or welfare since the inspection. 
  
   
• You can send appropriate supporting evidence, but this must relate to the action the council advised you to make in order to receive a higher rating.

• You can dispute your star rating if you feel it did not reflect the animal welfare standards and risk levels at the time of the inspection. 
• You need to state why you want a re-inspection and what actions you have taken to improve the level of compliance or welfare since the inspection and provide supporting evidence if appropriate   
• Before submitting an appeal, please discuss your intention to appeal with the inspecting officer who will explain how the rating was awarded which may help resolve the need for a formal appeal.  
• In the event that you are still not satisfied with the risk rating score you can submit a formal appeal in writing to the authority.
